In this blog, I am going to share my morning makeup application step by step in 10 minutes that is quick and easy. Hopefully you will find it easy to follow and practical.
Makeup Step One
Apply moisturizer that is suitable for your skin. I have a very dry and sensitive skin so I would apply a rich moisturizing cream in gentle but fast finger tapping motion (like playing a piano on your skin!). Do this until it’s completely absorbed on your skin. I use Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Deep Cream and Innisfree Orchid Intense Cream.
Makeup Step Two
Apply primer that is suitable to your skin. There are many types of primer in the market and choosing the right one for our skin can be challenging. Ensure that the primer is fully absorb before you proceed to the next step. The day-to-day primer that I use is the Too Faced Hangover Primer with coconut water. If I need extra rich and moisturizing primer on those days where my skin is super dry and flaky, I use the Hourglass No 28 Primer Serum.
Makeup Step Three
Apply a foundation of your choice. Personally, I prefer a Cushion Foundation in a compact since I am clumsy when I am in a hurry in the morning, using the compact would minimize the chance of me dropping the bottles! I think a compact cushion foundation is great since they have multiple properties in it such as UV protection, moisturizing and anti-aging. My choice is the ultra moisturizing cushion foundation and it will give me a dewy natural finish, which is the finish that I prefer. I don’t use powder because my skin is very dry. For those of you who have normal, combination or oily skin, you could dust a light powder all over the face before continuing to the next step.
These are the Cushion compacts that I use:
- HERA UV Mist Ultra Moisture in the shade 23
- LANEIGE BB Cushion Anti- Aging in the shade Sand
- Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion EX in the shade 27 Sand Beige (this is my shade during Summer time when I am tan)
Makeup Step Four
Apply eye primer, I use the Urban Decay Anti Aging Eye Primer potion. This is an important step that we should not skip especially if we want our eye makeup lasts longer. I just used the sample that comes with the Urban Decay eyeshadow Palettes.
Makeup Step Five
Apply matte eyeshadow as a base all over the lid and then apply midtone colour of your choice to the eye socket area for monolid eyes like mine or crease for people that has double lid. I usually use warm brown or light gray colours but this eye socket/ crease colour can be anything that we prefer as long as it’s not too dark (if we prefer a more natural look).
Makeup Step Six
Apply eyeliner. I prefer matte black eyeliner for monolid eyes since it will give the illusion of bigger eyes. The trick to apply the perfect eyeliner is to ensure that the line that we create is as close as possible to the lash line. I would also fill in the area between the lashes and the area just under the lashes to make it look more natural.
Take your time and try to be careful not to hurt yourself when applying eyeliner. Pencil eyeliner would be my suggestion for those who are just started to experiment with makeup. I prefer to use pen eyeliner, which I think is easier to hold and control. These pen eyeliners dries quickly and they don’t smudge. They usually have stiff brush applicators that we can use to create a more precise line.
These are the products that I use:
- Stilla Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black
- Stilla Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray
- MacQueen Waterproof Pen Eye Liner No. 1 Deep Black
Makeup Step Seven
Curl eyelashes and apply mascara. This is another important step that can enhance our eyes and giving them more definition. I wear false lashes only for special occasion. In the morning when I am in a rushed, all I need is just curling my lashes and apply mascara. I use Shu Uemura eyelash curler for many years and it hasn’t let me down.
These are the mascaras that I use:
- LANCOME Hypnose Star Waterproof mascara
- Tarte Lights, Camera, LASHES 4-in-1 mascara
Makeup Step Eight
Apply blush. I would choose natural colour such as peachy nude or light rose blushes and apply it lightly on cheeks. On the days when I have dry patches on my skin, I choose cream blush because the cream formula will give a little extra moisture to the skin and then blend gently in tapping motion.
These are the blushes that I use:
- Tarte Big Book of Blush Vol 3 in the shade Peachy
- Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Kiss and Blush cream cheek and lip palette in the shade Peck
Apply lip colour. I usually use lip tint for normal days. For those days that my lips are dry, I would use a moisturizing lipstick.
Lip products that I usually use:
- YSL Volupte lip tint-in-oil in the shade cherry
- YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil in Stick in the shade Nude in Private (no 9) or Beige Blouse (no 47)
This quick and easy makeup application will be suitable for those times when we are time poor.
