The Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette is the second addition of Huda Beauty’s larger sized eyeshadow palette. It has eighteen pans eyeshadows with multi-texture finish from matte, shimmer, metallic, glitter and duochrome eyeshadows.
This palette is beautifully designed with Huda’s face on the cover housed in a reasonably sturdy cardboard packaging with a magnetic closing. A large mirror is also included inside which comes in handy when we travel with this palette. This palette costs USD$65 and AUD$95 from Sephora with a net weight of 0.89oz or 25g. This eyeshadow palette is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
This palette is created based on the magical view of the desert’s magnificent colours at dusk. This palette features 18 versatile shades that can be layered in infinite ways to create a vast array of looks. We can layer the highly pigmented buttery mattes, pressed shimmer pearls and metallic colours, the light-shifting duo-chrome toppers, and glitter to create fascinating combinations. From subtle and natural looks to dramatic statements and bold glitter.
Shades included in the Huda Beauty DESERT Dusk Palette
Desert Sand is your perfect light banana shade with matte finish. It can be used in many ways such as a base all over the lids, as natural highlight in the inner corner of the eyes, it can be applied underneath to open up the eyes and the perfect eyeshadow for those days when we want to have a “no makeup” look.
Musk is a matte light brown with cool undertone. This colour is a great natural crease shade and can be used as a contouring shade. Unfortunately, this shade is a little patchy when I swatched it and it can be a little challenging to blend. It went on evenly on my eyelids after I dedicated some time to blend it. If you don’t have time to blend, avoid this shade.
Eden is a gorgeous matte peach shade that is great for the crease to create an illusion of a brighter complexion. It can also be applied underneath to open up the eyes.
Amber is a light terracotta colour in matte finish. It has a slight reddish tone to it. This shade can be used to give a little depth to the other eyeshadow colours.
Oud has a couple of meaning. One meaning is a Persian pear-shaped stringed musical instrument while it can also mean a musky luxury scent in Arabic. This shade I can describe as the perfect rich reddish-brown that can be used to give depth to the other eyeshadow colours.
Celestial is a beautiful duochrome shade with light brown-peach-gold shift to it. It is quite a natural “pop of colour” that can be used in conjunction to the matte shades easily.
Nefertiti is a warm light gold metallic shade that can be used as an inner corner highlighter and it can also be applied on the centre of the eyelids just to open up the eyes as it catches and reflect the natural lights.
Twilight is an absolutely gorgeous lilac shade in metallic finish. It has buttery smooth texture and a silver sheen finish to it as well.
Amethyst is a matte medium purple shade with a slight blue undertone to it. I think this shade will be beautiful as an accent. It can be applied to the outer corner of the eyes as well to create a more edgy look.
Royal is a beautiful light eggplant shade with light pink shimmer to it. This shade is perfect to create an “outside the box” smokey look and it is another shade that can be used to create an edgy but yet chic look.
Retrograde is a rich brown shimmer shade with reflective green sheen finish to it.
Cashmere is a gorgeous medium shimmer taupe with golden sheen finish. This shade is perfect for highlighting inner corner of the eyes.
Angelic is a one of my favourite shade in this palette. It is a magnificent neutral pink shade with golden peach shimmer finish. Absolutely beautiful!
Cosmo is a rich copper glitter with golden microglitter infused to it, and it is the only pressed glitter shade in this palette. A glitter glue is a must for this shade and it is best to apply a generous amount of loose powder underneath the eyes before application, to “catch” the glitter fall-outs and be dusted off once we’re done.
Turkish Delight is a rich, cranberry shade with warm, brown undertones and a metallic sheen.
Saffron is a matte burgundy red shade that will be beautiful when applied as an accent colour or the outer corner of the eyes.
Blazing is the last colour in this palette. It is a rich and deep warm orange shade. Another beautiful colour to add accent on our eyelids or underneath the eyes.
The shimmer and matte shades in this palette are long-lasting, they lasted for at least six hours on my eyelids without any problems. It didn’t go patchy or turned ashy at all.
The metallic and duochrome shade has a slight fall-outs but not a big deal for me. We can reduce the amount of fall-outs by applying eye primer.
The glitter on the other hand is a lightly pressed on the pan and need a gentle treatment when applying with fingers or brush as the pigment is easily undone. It requires a glitter glue to be able to stay on the eyelids.
This Huda Beauty Desert Dusk palette is absolutely gorgeous in a first glance with an attractive design and a unique cover. The quality of the eyeshadow are well above average but some of them has fall-outs and a few matte shades feel a little dry to the touch and a little patchy upon application.
