Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic eyeshadow palette is the new and limited edition release from the brand. It contains twenty metallic eyeshadow with the net weight of 20 x 0.8 g or 20 x 0.03 oz. They are all new shades and exclusive to this palette.
The design of this palette is beautiful but not practical nor travel friendly, it is full of contradiction to me.
This palette has a beautiful lavender colored metallic packaging with the Urban Decay monogram embossed at the bottom right hand corner of the case, very chic and sleek! Absolutely gorgeous!
The eyeshadows are neatly arranged in a slide out pallette with a decent sized mirror included in it. The mirror is positioned in the middle of the palette with ten jeweled-toned metallic shades on the left hand side of the mirror and another ten earthy warm-toned shades on the right hand side of the mirror.
Unfortunately, the metallic case picked up on my fingerprints very quickly and I needed to wipe it frequently just to keep it clean. The second downfall of the palette’s design is that the slide out eyeshadow palette does not have a stand embedded in it so I need a table (or a flat surface) to put it down properly before I could apply my eye makeup. I barely use the mirror included because of this and it is definitely not a travel friendly palette.
It is also troublesome to hold the palette in one hand as it is rather large. We need two hands to hold it comfortably and we still need to be careful not to accidently dip our thumb into the eyeshadow pans.
This Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette cost USD $55 or AUD $98 and available from Sephora in the USA and Mecca stores in Australia.
Besides the cons of the packaging, I found the eyeshadows themselves are very pigmented and rich in colours. A little goes a long way and a light handed application is recommended. There are some fall-outs with some colours and the texture of these eyeshadows are not as soft and buttery as the others in the market, but they definitely last a whole day on me. A glitter glue type of eye primer is recommended before applying these eyeshadows.
